English languages schools are many in Sihanoukville, so you can almost always find someone to speak English when you need it.

Money use to be a problem as you had to go inside the banks to get cash and with 26 holidays on the Cambodian calendar, you could get stuck with out cash for a few days, now there are ATM locations in Siem Reap- Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, Battembong and Sihanoukville. You can change just about every currency including Yen, Euros, Baht, Kip, Dong, and Sing Dollars. US Dollars and Cambodian Riel are the two most common currencies in use.

Sihanoukville is getting easier to get to with cheap international flights into Bangkok and really cheap regional flights into Phnom Penh. Flights into Sihanoukville are very close to being a reality as well. Regularly scheduled busses from Phnom Penh will get you to Sihanoukville in 4 hours on a excellent American built road. You can also arrange taxis and vans for moving groups of people, and an established over water route form Bangkok to Trat to the Had Lek - Klang Yai border to Sihanoukville. You might even arrive here via a cruise ships, as more are placing Sihanoukville on their itineraries.

The Islands of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand are mostly uninhabited; you will find isolated Spartan fishing villages with populations normally fewer than 100 people. One Island, Koh Tang, has only 7 residents and would take the better part of a day to hike around, so if you are looking for that deserted island to strand yourself on, to work on your coconut carving and ship in a bottle skills there are many here to chose from, bring your own hammock and Gal Friday or they can be acquired here in Sihanoukville.

The United States was once synonymous with having the largest incarnation of just about anything you could think of - whether it was the world's largest ball of string or the tallest free-standing structure on the planet. However, out of the top ten current tallest buildings in the world, Uncle Sam has only two structures, neither of which sits in the top slot. While Taiwan can claim to have the world's largest industrial building, Dubai can lay claim to having the world's tallest hotel. In fact, Dubai is home to three out of the top ten world's tallest hotels with the Rose Tower - despite still being under construction - the tallest at a height of 333 metres. When construction began, the Rose Tower was supposed to reach 380 metres - the height of the Empire State Building. However, design modifications led to its projected height being reduced, and while it is still under construction, the honour of tallest hotel is unofficial.

Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea is home to what would have been the second tallest hotel, the Ryugyong Hotel. With 105 stories rising to a height of 330 metres, the Ryugong Hotel is a towering, empty concrete shell, which has stood unfinished since 1992. With no windows, fixtures or fittings ever being installed, the basic structure is complete but has never been surveyed for safety and some believe the structure to be unsafe due to the use of poor quality building materials.

As a result, travellers looking to stay in the world's tallest operable hotels should head back to Dubai, where they'll be able to stay in the third and fourth tallest hotel structures in the world: the Burj-al-Arab and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. The Burj-al-Arab has 60 guest floors, stands at 321 metres tall and is constructed on an artificial island that is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. Construction of the Burj-al-Arab began in 1994 and was built to resemble the sail of a dhow - a type of Arabian sea vessel.

The Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel is a 56-floor five-star business hotel in Dubai which stands at a height of 309 metres and is the 29th tallest currently-standing structure in the world. The Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel is also referred to as Emirates Tower Two and is connected to the 54-floor Emirates Office Tower by a retail boulevard and together the two structures form the Emirates Towers complex, which is complete with lakes, waterfalls, public seating areas and has ample car parking space for up to 1800 cars.

Although renowned for its sand, sun, and shopping, Dubai is fast becoming world famous for its architectural audacity and breathtaking structures. Today, shiny new skyscrapers reflect the mosques and wind towers of Old Dubai while some of the world's tallest structures - hospitality and industry alike - dominate the Dubai skyline.

There are so many versions on the evolution and history of Inns that, at least for me it is difficult to say hey, this is how it all started and this is when it started. However, logically and analytically speaking, one found many facts hidden facts between the lines of history. It is left then to your judgement to draw conclusions.

The need for travel must have triggered the demand for overnight sleepover places. Where the traveller could rest his horses, wash himself, eat good food with a drink and have a sound sleep before embarking upon the journey further the next day. The history so implies. Alehouses used to serve the travellers with home brewed beer and allow him to sleep in the barn or the kitchen. Inns would offer primarily room or dormitory accommodation with attached or shared bathrooms initially and as demand grew, rooms were provided with attached baths.

The rules governing the stay of the traveller were framed by the innkeeper and were quite strict. The main door of the inn would close at a certain hour and after that, one could not enter even if you were a guest. Since travel conditions those days were tough, people normally would travel alone. Many Inns would therefore not allow travellers with families to stay. One had to eat the fixed breakfast prescribed by the Inn Keeper and on shared tables. Yet the Inns enjoyed good occupancy and business in the absence of any alternative.

The factor that used to characterise the early day inns are, they were mostly or generally located on the intersection of two major roads, or at the entry of a city or near the railway station no more holds good. Today one finds Inns anywhere and everywhere. Airports, down town, city centre, beach or resort location, specially on ski resorts and golf resorts or for that matter even as part of a mixed development.

Since Inns are perceived as budget hotels, offering economical rates for its rooms and food and beverages, they normally attract the bulk of mid market segment and enjoy a relatively higher occupancy. Inns also have a much lower operating overheads and therefore even after lower revenues, are able to generate a healthy contribution to the bottom line. This cost benefit advantage of the product has prompted most of the big hotel chains to enter the Hotels Inn segment. It is a profitable business niche from investment angle.

Some of the big ticket Inn sign boards would read like the Fair Field Inns by Marriott Hotels, Days Inns & Quality Inn, Holiday Inns by Intercontinental Hotels, Premier Inns, Residence Inns, Park Inns, Hampton Inns and Suites, Sleep Inns and the list goes on. The advantage of big corporate launching Inn brands has been many folds. It gives a quality stamp to the Inn product and offers the opportunity to the Inn tag to ride on the back of upscale tags like the city hotels, down town hotels, luxury hotels etc.

Today, some hotels inns are as good in product development and quality as any luxury hotel or a 5-star hotel. They have good sized and well-appointed guest rooms, two to three gourmet restaurants, bars, pubs, discotheque, business centre, health club with a well-fitted gym, swimming pool. Meeting spaces and the works, yet they are shy to drop the "inn" tag afraid to loose the special status they enjoy. Inns would not like to get drowned in the deep ocean of the hotel world and loose their identity. Inns are a different world. Inns remind you of the nostalgic time journey of hotel evolution.

One thing that Trang has is great snorkeling, with the right conditions I would have to say it is unmatched if you compare it to anywhere in Thailand. The water is clear with beautiful long stretches of coral and tropical fish to be seen. If you do decide to go to Trang and snorkel, you have to visit the emerald cave. It is a beach that can only be reached via going through a small cave which is about 100 meters long in the side of a cliff the side of an island. It is not a cave you walk through, you have to swim through it and can only be accessed at certain times due to the tide.

With cheap prices and stunning snorkeling, it is hard to see Trang not getting a lot more popular over the next decade.

Krabi is very similar to Phuket with its nice white sand beaches, it is a little less crowded and has the best rock climbing at Railay beach which is a short, cheap, speedboat ride away. If ou like a more peiceful holiday but with a bit of action, Krabi is a nice place to visit.

Koh Samui has gotten very popular over the last decade and has much better beaches than Phuket, You can go on scubba diving tours in Koh Tao which is close to Koh Samui and is rated by many as the best in Thailand for diving. Koh Samui has been a little over developed over the years and has lost its uniqueness with western franchises stringing up everywhere. Still a nice Island to visit but is very touristy.

Hat Yai and Songkla are other destinations which is gaining a little popularity but is only developing slowly, these 2 places are a good place to visit if you want a better experience of a real Thailand and better experience with Thai culture.

If you are heading to Bandon and need accommodations, Bandon has a number of hotels and motels scattered around the downtown and Beach Loop Drive area. Even if you are coming to golf Bandon Dunes, you don't need to stay in the pricey accommodations at the resort. You will save a bundle of money by selecting one of the hotels in town.
